How it works
Initial Consultation & Goals
“Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain.”
― Vivian Greene
Your care begins with a virtual or in-person visit with a board-certified physician who inquires about your patterns and lifestyle, explores your preferences and personal goals of treatment, and obtains a comprehensive medical, surgical, and behavioral health history.

Body Composition & Strength Testing by InBody
The InBody 580 is a professional-grade body composition analyzer.

This powerful tool is designed to provide in-depth analysis of body composition, going beyond simple weight measurements. It measures things like muscle mass, fat mass, and body water—and it breaks these down into segmental analyses (arms, legs, trunk). This gives us deeper insight into your body when creating personalized fitness and nutrition plans.
Indirect Calorimetry by Microlife
MedGem by Microlife is a portable, handheld device that measures an individual's resting metabolic rate (RMR). We use it to set accurate calorie intake goals for each individual.
MedGem tells us how many calories are burned at rest, which varies per person depending on a variety of factors. This information helps craft your treatment plan around your specific caloric needs, informing nutrition guidelines, fitness goals, and other factors.
Treatment Plan
"We are not only what we eat, but also the ways in which we eat it."
― Eric Wasserman, MD
Following your initial consultation, we will prepare a detailed personalized weight loss plan, informed by your body and your individual goals. This plan often include a range of elements, like fitness, nutrition, medication, sleep, and stress reduction to ensure that you can approach weight management from a holistic and informed perspective.

Follow-up Appointment
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."
― Chinese Proverb
We aim to serve as a long term partner toward reaching your health goals, and as you progress through your journey, we schedule regular follow-up appointments to monitor the effectiveness of your treatment plan and adjust it as needed.

A balanced, comprehensive and holistic approach to better health
When used appropriately, medication can be a powerful tool for weight loss and metabolic health. We take a personalized approach to prescribing, ensuring each patient receives evidence-based treatment that supports—not replaces—healthy lifestyle changes. We carefully monitor progress and adjust medications to align with your evolving goals and physiology.
Nutrition is foundational to lasting health. Rather than one-size-fits-all meal plans, we focus on individualized, sustainable strategies rooted in science. Our team helps you understand how food impacts metabolism, hormones, and energy, guiding you toward choices that nourish your body and support your goals.
Movement supports nearly every system in the body—improving cardiovascular health, metabolism, mood, and more. We help you find an approach to physical activity that fits your lifestyle, whether you’re just starting out or looking to optimize your routine. It’s not about perfection; it’s about consistency and progress.
Sleep is often overlooked in traditional weight loss programs, but it plays a vital role in metabolism, appetite regulation, and hormone balance. We assess and address sleep quality as part of your treatment plan, helping you build the habits and environment needed for truly restorative rest.
Chronic stress can derail progress by disrupting hormones, sleep, and eating behaviors. That’s why we prioritize stress management as a core component of treatment. Through tools like mindfulness, lifestyle coaching, and behavioral support, we help you build resilience and regain balance in your day-to-day life.
Benefits
Losing weight, even a modest amount, can significantly improve cardiovascular health
Reduced cardiovascular strain:
Weight loss lowers blood pressure and eases the heart’s workload, improving overall cardiovascular efficiency.
Improved Cholesterol and blood sugar control:
Healthy weight loss can lower LDL cholesterol, raise HDL, reduce triglycerides, and enhance insulin sensitivity—key for preventing heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
enhanced cardiac function:
Losing weight improves how the heart pumps and relaxes, supporting better long-term heart performance.
lower inflammation:
Weight loss helps reduce chronic inflammation, a contributing factor to heart disease and other metabolic conditions.
Reduced risk of cardiac events:
By improving key health markers, weight loss significantly lowers the risk of major cardiac events like heart attacks and strokes.
Weight loss eases kidney strain, lowering inflammation, cancer risk, and kidney stone chances.
Decreased workload:
Obesity forces the kidneys to work harder to filter blood and meet the metabolic demands of the larger body size. This can lead to hyperfiltration, where the kidneys filter more blood than normal, putting stress on the delicate filtering units (glomeruli).
Less Inflammation and scarring:
Obesity can cause inflammation in the kidneys, leading to scarring and damage over time. Losing weight helps prevent this risk.
Hormonal and metabolic changes:
Obesity disrupts hormonal balance and metabolic processes, contributing to conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, which are the leading causes of kidney disease. Weight loss can help reverse these effects.
Weight loss can positively impact brain health, potentially improving memory, attention, and other cognitive functions—and reducing the risk of conditions like Alzheimer's.
Reduced inflammation and reversal of brain changes:
Weight loss can lower chronic inflammation and may reverse some obesity-related brain changes, improving overall brain health.
Improved blood flow and brain metabolism:
Improved circulation and metabolism enhance brain energy production and support healthier brain function.
Balanced hormones and neurochemicals:
Weight loss regulates hormones like cortisol and increases dopamine, promoting emotional stability and motivation.
Enhanced cognitive function:
Weight loss may boost memory, attention, and executive functions such as decision-making and problem-solving.
Lower risk of cognitive decline:
Maintaining a healthy weight may reduce the risk of cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.
Maintaining a healthy weight is an important part of cancer prevention. There’s increasing evidence that intentional weight loss is linked to an overall reduction in cancer mortality and can reduce the risk of developing certain cancers, including:
Endometrial cancer:
This cancer of the uterine lining has a strong association with excess weight. Intentional weight loss can significantly lower the risk.
Post-menopausal breast cancer:
After menopause, fat tissue becomes a significant source of estrogen. Because excess estrogen can fuel breast cancer growth, weight loss can help reduce this risk.
Colon and rectal cancer:
Some studies indicate a reduction in risk of these cancers with weight loss.
Direct kidney damage:
Obesity can also directly damage the kidneys through mechanisms like increased pressure within the kidneys and changes in the way the kidneys handle salt and water.
Key points to remember
Losing weight can lead to positive changes in hormone levels and inflammation, which may contribute to this reduced risk.
These benefits are most pronounced when weight loss is achieved through acombination of healthy diet and regular exercise.
Even modest weight loss can have a positive impact.
It is very important to make a distinction between intentional and unintentional weight loss. Unintentional weight loss can be a sign of underlying health issues and should always be evaluated by a medical professional.
